Is this not the most hideous, ghastly thing you have ever seen?

How could anyone even think of bringing that inside?? They say it's my nephew, son of my so called sister, but I can't be related to anything so ugly. And I don't want to hear about how she and I are the spitting image of one another! See? No resemblance - so called sister on left, me on right.

But you know what I saw?? Through the window I saw them pick it up and ooh and aah over it like they think it's the cutest thing they have ever seen.

I know they are planning to bring the monster inside but I put the word out to the sis that she better get her offspring out of the yard and not bring them back. I told her that she and "the family" abandoned me and they owe me.

I'm not big on sharing or competition by the way!

We spent the long Labor Day weekend at the beach and Andrew, as usual, attempted to take over the house. Andrew does not like closed doors or being told he is not allowed to go somewhere. The third floor is off limits (parents bedrooms) and this does not go over well with Mr. Andrew. So he immediately placed himself at the top of the stairs blocking anyone's path to the third floor and when he got bored he gave himself a bath. No is not a word that sits well with Andrew!

I, Dudley Graham, have not authorized this post. I refuse to accept the implications in this post as I am an orphan and there is only ONE of me. But I obviously have no say as they are planning to feature these imposters all week!

In the backyard of the house at the beach my founding father has been feeding the ~~rabid~~ stray cats and THEY seem to think just because they found me in that yard last year these are my family members. They think the mother of the kitten is my sister, I see no resemblance.

THEY seem overly enchanted with the ~~devil spawn~~ kitten and you will be as sick of him as I am by the end of this week. He's approximately six weeks old and all black with just a small white patch on his chest.

I have been elected spokesperson for the felines in this house and we are VERY happy with the way things are. We DO NOT want or need any additional animals in this house. So pictures better be as far as this fascination goes!!!

Dudley Teaches a Lesson

Humans should put their clean clothes away, right? Not leave them in the basket overnight for a black & white hellion to raid? Well, She left her clean clothes in the basket last night and I decided I would teach her She should put them away. In the middle of the night I stole a pair of socks (you might remember I have a thing for socks) from the basket. Even though they were in with the clean clothes, they did not live up to my standards of cleanliness, so I washed them again in my water bowl. Then, I put them back in the basket but I wanted to make sure she didn't find them right away so I got them, in all their dripping cleanliness, deep down in the middle of the basket.

She is a very ungrateful person! At first she didn't realize what had happened and just stood there trying to figure out why her CLEAN clothes were wet. Then she found the newly re-cleaned socks and started YELLING. She got a little shrill, so I didn't catch every word, but I KNOW there was no thank you mixed in!! I didn't let the yelling bother me. I just lay there and looked up at her and thought at her "that's what you get when you don't put your clothes away!"

Here endeth the lesson.

I am posting this picture so she will hopefully see and remember how cute I am and that will help her get over her grumpiness.

Remember that commercial for the dog treats with the dog running through the house yelling "BACON!!...bacon, bacon, bacon!!"? Well I love bacon that way. If you think this is odd, you must be a new reader, so Welcome!

I got a surprise treat of bacon last night because she was trying to take my picture. It all started as she went down the stairs, I looked out of the railing above her and OF COURSE she thought I was so cute and ran to get her camera, throwing over her shoulder "Stay right there, I'll be right back". So she came back with the camera and tried to recreate the whole picture but by that time I had gotten a case of nerves and didn't want my picture taken plus Andrew had come to see what was going on so he was much more interesting than she was. Enter the bacon!! I didn't even plan this but the other one came out with bacon and was trying to entice me to look through the railing again. Long story short, I got tons of bacon, she never got her picture, and I even stole Andrew's bacon because he doesn't mind sharing with me. He's cool that way!!

She's Going Away...

As most of you who have followed this blog from the beginning know I found Dudley abandoned by his mother when he was barely 10 days old. I hand fed him and taught him everything (EVERYTHING) his mother would normally teach him. This is what my little rat looked like:

It has been just over a year since Dud and I joined forces and in that time we have forged a very strong bond. He follows me everywhere, if I would allow it he would follow me to work. When I am home he always needs to know where I am and god forbid he "loses" me, when he finds me he comes yelling at me as if to say "Where the Hell have you been?" These feelings are completely reciprocated on my end. I adore this little creature I saved.

In our year together, Dudley has never spent the night without me. Where ever I go, pretty much he comes too. Until now. Tomorrow morning, I leave (with Mary Beth) to go to the BlogHer 2009 Conference in Chicago WITHOUT Mr. Dudley. We will be gone until Sunday night. My youngest brother is coming to house and feline sit.

Dudley is not a stupid cat, lazy and spoiled rotten but not stupid. He knows something is going on (I think the other three cats are telling him horrible things). He has been unusually insecure and needy over the last 24 hours. The other three cats know something is going on as well, Andrew tried to follow us out the door to work this morning. I think they all thought it was happening this morning.

So this is a warning to anyone going to BlogHer and the management at The Red Roof Inn in Chicago, don't be too surprised if there is a stowaway in my bag. Not sure who it will be harder for tomorrow morning when I leave, me or Dud. I'm thinking me!It's happened, I'm officially the crazy cat lady, sigh, we knew it was bound to happen sooner or later!

Holy Crap! There's An Ogre Upstairs

As we've mentioned before, we four fantastic felines are forced into carriers and the car each weekend during the summer and taken to the beach. Over the last few weeks they have been nicer to us and not kept us incarcerated in the two bedrooms but allow us during the day to roam most of the house. We are not allowed in the kitchen because the hated dogs are in there. We are also not allowed on the top floor because, I THOUGHT, the parents don't want us in their bedrooms. But this weekend I was coming down the hall towards the stairs to the top floor.

And then I saw it:

The reason they won't let us up there is because of the ogre!!! They say it's the mother's cat, but that ain't like no cat I've ever seen. It's an ogre!!! and it scares me!!

We Hate Summer Weekends

You may be asking yourself why we hate the weekends in the summer and guess what we're going to tell you!

1. It all starts on Friday night at treat time, we DO NOT get treats instead we get herded like cattle into tiny little boxes (at least they have the decency to give each of us our own box).

2. Then the boxes with us in them are carried - very ungracefully, banging us into walls and such - out to the car.

3. She drives like a MADWOMAN!!!

4. After HOURS in the car (actually about an 1.5 hours) we get to the beach house. Where we immediately are locked into two tiny rooms.

5. It is now usually after midnight so they throw some treats at us and go to bed and we have to sleep two cats per bed because there is no furniture other than the beds in this house and the floors are all hardwood. Do you have any idea how small a single bed is? Now add two "healthy" cats and one human. There's just not enough room for all us to be comfortable so the humans sleep like pretzels.

6. During the day they try to keep us locked in the rooms but Andrew (smart old Andrew) has become an expert at springing us. Here's pictures of me and Andrew in the laundry room where we DON'T belong. That's me checking out the sink!

7. AND here's the worst part of the weekends, they spend all their time with the DOGS!!!!!

8. Then on Sunday night, back into the boxes and the car and the crazy driving and cursing.

So yeah, summer weekends SUCK!!

Locked Away

I know, I know rough life having to go to a beach house each weekend but you just don't know the hell we have to go through! Like yesterday, she went for a walk with the DOG and left me in the room even though I gave her the "how can you leave me face".

How Can You Get Mad At This?

Recently, I have been testing the boundaries of this theory that they can't get mad at me because I am, well...Dudley.

The other day, I may have stepped over that line. The "other one" came home from work and I felt she wasn't feeding us fast enough so I jumped on the counter to help her. Ungrateful as she is, she didn't want my help and put me on the floor. However, I know that she NEEDED my help so I jumped back up on the counter. Now is it my fault that she put a bowl right where I was landing? No, I don't think so. She blamed me anyway and then made everyone wait to eat until she cleaned up the broken dish. This did not sit well with George, Gretel and Andrew. I was trying to help clean it up by taking a broken piece out of the room in my mouth and that seemed to make her more agitated. Just as the mob syndrome was about to take place with the other three cats attacking me, the front door opened and in came my woman. The "other one" said "Go on, you'd better go tell her why the others have to wait to eat!" So I went to greet my woman and as expected she did not get mad at me. However, out of spite, the other one got the vacuum cleaner. I think that was a bit of overkill since the broom was doing fine and I'm not the one scared of the vacuum. Have I mentioned before the others are S-I-S-S-I-E-S? Of course, that just made them madder at me, but I gots me my woman and that's all I need!

I Leave Her A Present...

Now that my birthday celebrations are over and the threats to turn me in for a new model have been taken for what they are worth, I have been thinking how to thank "my woman" for all she does for me. Socks are my favorite toys, I love to steal her socks from her clean laundry and play with them. Also, now my new thing is to put my favorite toys in water. I don't know why, it just seemed like a good idea at the time and I have stuck with it. So at about 3AM this morning I came up with the perfect plan to surprise her this morning. I ~~stole~~ took a pair of her socks and put them in my water bowl. When they were good and soaked, I brought them to her room (do you have any idea how heavy socks get when they are wet?). Then very carefully while she slept I put my present in her bed for her to find when she woke up. I was very careful not to wake her, and I was able to put them under the comforter and top sheet and right next to her leg.

When she woke up at 6AM to exercise, she was very surprised at my generosity and I think very pleased (at least I choose to think that was a pleased tone in her voice when she yelled "DUDLEY!").

I don't know why they spend money on toys when my most favorite toy in the world is this:

It is one of the plastic strips that hold cardboard together, folded up nicely, with some paperclips to add weight for ultimate throwing distance. I guard this toy with my life.

And when I feel they have been good enough to warrant it, I allow them to play with me. They throw it and I bring it back - I sometimes like to do this for hours on end.

When I am not playing I need to hide it so the other cats won't steal my treasure. Unfortunately, I usually forget where I hid it and that to becomes a game. I sit and cry and they searh all over trying to find it for me.

However, the winter leaves us with very sparse entertainment. They put out the food but hardy anyone comes to eat it. So we can't wait for Spring so the entertainment will begin again. She has been sick for over a week now and this weekend she finally had a chance to relax and try to recuperate. I, Dudley Graham, selflessly helped her get better. As you can see I was very helpful in the napping department. I'm a giver!

Last weekend, she got a burst of energy and decided to clean the bathrooms. I got to help, just because I like to be with her (don't tell her that). She used some pretty toxic chemicals and got concerned about my little lungs but I'm a trooper and brave so I stayed and helped, while everyone else sat around sleeping. They used the excuse that they were helping the other one who was sick, but they are just L-A-Z-Y. This is me after all my hard work.

She is very upset that she didn't have a camera handy to take pictures of me on my hind legs watching her clean the toilet.
