My Mortal Enemy

You would not think someone so young could have a mortal enemy but I do.

This is my mortal enemy. They call it a vacuum cleaner and they say they use it to clean the rugs. I wouldn't know because they hardly ever take it out. All I know is it makes a very loud noise and sucks up anything in its path. All the big cats ran away when they took it out yesterday, but I was brave (at least I tried to be) and stayed to take on my enemy if it tried to go near my toys.

I stayed on the edge of the rug while one of them used the enemy and came dangerously close to my toys but then she saved me from having to show the enemy a thing or two because she picked up my toys for me. It's a good thing too because I think I could have taken it down. Then once the toys were safe I went with the other one into the laundry room. At least I didn't run away and hide upstairs like the others!

Underappreciated

I am totally underappreciated! I bring her a present this morning and she screams like a little girl and shows absolutely no appreciation for my hard work and generosity. I very generously gave up my cricket and lovingly placed it on top of her bare foot...AND...it wasn't even dead yet. Mostly dead, but not completely. Now, I'm pretty sure it doesn't say anywhere in Emily Post that when someone lovingly gives you a gift the appropriate response is "EW, Dudley!" and then taking a paper towel and squishing the gift beyond recognition and then throwing it away. That's the last time I give up my toy to her!

Then, later on this morning I redecorated the laundry room when I found an idle roll of paper towels. It took me all morning to drape the paper towels just right and she comes in and starts to remove all my hard work. Then she stopped and said she would leave it so the other one could see when she got home. What does a guy have to do to get some appreciation?????

The pics for today are to show how great I look on red.

It turns out the rumors about the vet last week were about me. I was happily asleep Friday afternoon when next thing I know I'm in my prison in the car. Then we're at the vet and I'm being poked and prodded and then they take my temperature. Not sure that doesn't qualify as torture. Just when I think it can't get any worse, the vet takes out a needle and POKES me with it. So that's what a shot is! Pass thank you! On a good note, while I was trying to squirm my way back into my prison to get away from the prodding, I am pretty sure I heard the words perfect and beautiful. Aso, I now officially weigh 4 lbs 9 oz.

Lazy Days Of August

Not much has been happening this week, just spending my days terrorizing Andrew and the humans and sleeping. I have a hiding spot where I sleep and they can't find me. It's fun to stay there when they call and call for me, because they get worried I am lost or got out of the house. Then when I appear they are so happy to see me I inevitably get picked up and loved. Unfortunately, she discovered my hiding spot while I was sleeping and took a picture of me in my closet. As you can see this closet is where they shove everything they don't know where else to put. It is so crowded it makes a nice coccoon for me.

There are some nasty rumors floating around that there might be an appointment with the vet scheduled for today. I am hoping it is not for me, though Andrew says it has to be me since I am the one that needs shots. Not sure what these shots are but considering my last trip to the vet, I don't think it can be good.

Busy Weekend

I am contemplating firing my ghost writer. Her priorities for the last several days have been a little skewed. I mean really, what's more important? Writing about me and keeping my blog updated? Or filling stupid orders for the store? I have heard stupid phrases like "the store pays for your food" and "the store pays for your toys", and blah, blah, blah...

A huge order arrived on Friday and I had to help them unpack it, then help pack all the packages that needed to be shipped(that took Friday night and all day Saturday), and then put the remaining inventory away. To top it all off, I guess they didn't appreciate all my help because they brought in reinforcements on Saturday in the form of their mother and god forbid she should go anywhere without the D-O-G. First thing he did was jump through my screen door that I like to climb. The good thing that came out of that was they had to replace the screen door in the kitchen and then they got a screen door for the living room door so now I have two of them.

Anyway we were all exhausted after our long weekend and here are pictures of me recuperating.

I guess I'll keep her for now cause she takes such good pictures of my favorite subject.

I'm A Giver!

As my legs get stronger, there are very few places I can't get to, despite what the humans might think about boundaries. The other night I jumped up on the counter and became Mary Beth's sous chef while she made the marinade for the chicken. I helped so much they even shared the finished product with me.

Gretel Likes Me Just a Little

Gretel is warming up to me. She let me sleep in the magic room with her yesterday. No touching, of course, but close proximity. She is not ready to admit that she might like me a little bit because the minute the camera came out to memorialize the moment she got up to walk out.

How Can You Leave This Face?????

I turned a very healthy 12 weeks yesterday. A pretty big accomplishment if you consider my humble beginnings. And do you know how the humans chose to celebrate my momentous occasion?? They went to a baseball game! WITHOUT ME!!!! Who cares about the New York Mets when Lord Dudley is 12 weeks old???? They left at 8:30AM and didn't get back until 7:30PM. What baseball game take 11 hours? They said stupid things about traffic, and having to get to Queens, NY, what do I care, I was alone - well not completely alone, my good friends Andrew, George and Gretel all got left also.

And if that wasn't bad enough, they were barely home for 10 minutes when I look out the door to the back yard and there are DOGS out there.

What the hell????? Whose brilliant idea was it to celebrate my 12 week birthday by inviting DOGS to the party?? I know, I know it was only Dickon and Morgun (their parents' dogs) but really it was my party!!! Oh and no one even mentioned that I was 12 weeks old yesterday. Who taught these humans how to make a guy feel special??? Cause they suck at it!

One of the Boys

Every night, just before we go to bed we dole out treats to the cats. The treats are Whiskas Temptations and if you have cats and want their undying devotion, give them just a couple of these. George starts to make noises that it might be time for treats every night starting around 9PM (usually about 2 hours before actual treat time) and god forbid we ever forgot this little routine, I am pretty sure George and Andrew would bar the stairs and not let us up until we had fulfilled our duty. If we ever want Andrew, all we have to do is shake the treat bag and he comes running. We have used it to lure him into his cat carrier when we are going to the beach and get him out of the garage when he escapes in there - he is a complete whore for his treats.

Up until last week Dudley had showed no interest in treats, which was fine because I think they may have been a little too rich for his system. However, last week he allowed as how he might like to try some and we have another member of the treat brigade - One of the boys...

Treats are not the only thing Dudley has decided he likes. Now that the little porker has discovered "people food" I don't think there is anything he doesn't like. He loves french fries and cheese doodles - go figure...

PRIZES

Over at my blog I posted this weekend about our productive weekend organizing the Magic Room where we store the inventory for Hey Teach!. While organizing the inventory we found some items that just don't fit in our store anymore and over the next several weeks we will be offering lots of prizes through our various blogs (Mary Beth, HHG, Hey Teach!, and here on Dudley's blog). To all you lurkers, this will be the time to introduce yourselves. In order to enter you will have to leave us comments and sometimes, we might even make you work a little to win (just a little).

First up is
Mary Beth. She posted this morning about the first give away so go check out her blog and join the fun.

Best Buds

There are two types of best buds a guy can have. The live kind that plays with you and keeps you company when your humans go away and gives you a warm body to sleep with.

It's a little difficult to take a clear picture when you are creeping around trying not to disturb sleeping beauties. Dudley is on top and Andrew is under the foot stool.

Then there is your best toy in the whole world.

Andrew Teaching Dudley All the Bad Habits

It seems Andrew is intent on teaching Dudley all his bad habits. This is a photo taken about 3 years ago of the top half of our front screen door.

That is Andrew hanging from the screen door. When we moved we were sure we were going to have to replace the screening on the door because of all the claw holes in it.

This picture was taken last night of our back screen door. Mary Beth was outside grilling dinner and obviously someone objected.

This is the same picture pointing out the players in the photo.

As you can see, screams of "Get off that screen!" from both inside and outside made a huge impact on Dudley! Andrew is on the ground cheering him on "You can do it! They'll love your new trick!"
