Yarn What Yarn????

I apologize for the fuzziness but the little felon wouldn't stay still.

Weight: 3 lb 2 oz

This morning I woke up to my knitting project upstairs in the hall not downstairs with my knitting where I left it last night. It is a project that involves working with four double pointed needles, 3 of which have the stitches on them and the fourth is the one you knit with. The fourth needle was missing and I soon found out that Mary Beth found it in the shower. This is an Andrew thing. He likes to "help" us knit while we sleep. However, when I turned to tell him that he had obviously been busy, trailing down the stairs and into the living room was my ball of black yarn. The ball of yarn was at the bottom of the stairs and the unraveled portion went up the stairs, back down the stairs, and under the couch. I said "Oh Andrew" and what comes flying out from under the couch but Lord Dudley with the black yarn wrapped around his ear!!! Does he have to pick up all of Andrew's bad habits???? Before you think I might have maligned poor Andrew, he was the instigator in the "knitting project", he just gets help now!!

No Rest for the Weary

It's not easy being the big brother. Andrew thinks he can go in his box to get away from the jaws of Dudley.

But it would appear there is no place safe from the little terror.

Dudley found out today that there is something better than ice cream. He loves tuna. Usually when I make tuna fish, I give a little bit on separate plates - no prima donnas here :{ - to each of the cats. Lord Dudley ate his and then went around shoving the older cats away from their plates so he could eat theirs too. George and Andrew were so good, they just let him have theirs. Gretel did not come down but if she had been there she would NOT have been as nice.

Can You Think of A Better Way to Spend A Sunday Afternoon??

Weight: 2 lb 15 oz

Best Buds Andrew & Dudley Spending a Lazy Sunday Afternoon

The above picture was before the thunderstorms came crashing through the area and sent the three adult felines to the bathtub for protection (where else do you go to hide from the thunderstorms?). Our brave boy Dudley decided he would not be intimidated by the weather and stuck it out in front of the window no less.

I think this had less to do with bravery and more to do with the fact that he was completely exhausted. He did not sleep last night because he spent the night helling around with Andrew. We had taken Dudley to LBI on Friday night and separated him from his good friend Andrew for 24 hours and they had to make up for lost time.

Morgun

Weight: 2 lb 15 oz

The kitchen in my parents house is the focal point of the house. This is where we eat, talk and where I usually work when I am here. It is also, the only room the two dogs (Morgun and Dickon) are allowed. Morgun is a blind, diabetic, male cairn terrier. We call him the "cranky old man" because he will bark at anything and has been known to snap at a few people. So every weekend when we come Dudley gets to come into the kitchen and sit on the kitchen table and play. This will not last much longer because a) he's just getting too big and b) he doesn't want to stay on the table and knows he can get down on his own. Every weekend at some point during the weekend Morgun realizes there is a cat in the room and he tries to find him through smell (since he's blind). Here is the typical scenario:

Morgun: I smell a cat.
Dudley: God he's stupid, I'm right here

Morgun: Closer, I know I'm closer...
Dudley: Yeah, still right here...

Morgun: He's got to be here somewhere...
Dudley: Really? I can reach out and touch you and still you can't see me?

Morgun: Found him.
Dudley: You do know dogs are stupid right?

Morgun: I'll show you stupid!
Dudley: OH CRAP!!!

And Give Up All This?

Weight: 2 lb 15 oz

This weekend Dad asked since Dudley was born outside does he ever show any inclination to get out. Dudley is many things but stupid he is not. He fully realizes how good he has it and shows absolutely no interest in stepping one foot over the threshold from pampered existence to fending for himself.

Here the Lord is lounging in the cat tower surrounded for comfort by my sweatshirt and all his toys.

Just Can't Help Myself

Weight: 2 lb 11.4 oz

I see Andrew's tail and know I shouldn't go for it, but can I really help myself?

Almost there but he keeps moving it...

Almost...

Just need to wait until it stops moving...

Got it!

Needless to say, Andrew is the most patient cat on earth. This is the least of what he has to put up with.

Parasite Free

Weight: 2 lb 11.4 oz

What does a parasite free, "perfect" kitten look like?

I am feeling much better and thank you to all who left nice comments when I was under the weather. THEY seem to be very excited about my bowel movements, so I guess that is a good sign though a little creepy that THEY get so worked up over my eliminations. Even though the vet called and said all tests came back negative, THEY are insisting on continuing the medication claiming the vet told them THEY had to finish the dosage. So twice a day I get to turn into Linda Blair. I really have to figure out how to tip the bottle over when she is filling the syringe.

Unholy Alliance

Weight: 2 lb 11.4 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: I am supposed to eat wet kitten food and dry kitten food, but yesterday I discovered my fellow felines do not eat what I do. Did you know they have a bowl all of their own in the laundry room? Well they do and that food is sooo much better than mine. And it is down all day long, so I can just go have gnosh whenever I feel like it. Being big is better!

On the subject of food, George and Andrew love my food. They are very nice and finish whatever I don't eat. They really like my dry food, so we have worked out a system to fool the humans. When I want food I sit on the floor and scream and one of my humans will come and put me on the counter so I can eat without being disturbed by George or Andrew. So I start eating and give whichever human is there my "I'm going to be a while" look so they go off and do whatever humans do. They just listen to make sure they hear me chewing and once I stop they come and recover the food so George and Andrew can't have any. So once the humans are out of the way, I get down George or Andrew jumps up and has a snack. Eventually, my humans catch on and come and cover up the food but at least I can get my buds a few bites before they come. Sometimes, they won't buy the look and stick around so plan b is that I become a very messy eater and pieces of my food "accidentally" fall to the floor to my waiting buds.

Andrew and I are now best buds. I go everywhere he goes and he plays/fights with me. Last night he even decided to sleep with me on HER bed. This is so cool because now when we wake up at 3:00AM we are right next to each other and don't even have to get down off the bed to play. We would let HER play too if she wanted, but SHE gets very cranky when we wake HER up that early. Geez, SHE could go sleep somewhere else if sleep is soooo important! SHE got some pictures of me and Andrew being buds this morning.

We are both in this picture, just count the legs!

Day 57 - 7/20/08

Weight: 2 lb 9 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: About 1/2 can of Kitten Wet Food each feeding. They have added dry food to my wet food. Not bad, but it's not ice cream either.

Andrew Eugene has ROCKS IN HIS HEAD!!!!!!!

The Vet is not fun! They started by taking me away from HER and THE OTHER ONE and then they poked me and took my blood. Then they brought me back to THEM and poked me some more and stuck a thermometer up my rear. All the while my bowels are out of control and I can't stop going to the bathroom. The vet got very excited about this because she got fresh samples for testing. All very undignified and they still don't know what is wrong with me. Good news is I tested negative for Feline HIV and Leukemia. They are testing me for worms and parasites. To make matters worse we still had to drive back to the beach and I had another accident in my carrier. THEY felt very sorry for me (AS THEY SHOULD) and stopped and took the towel out of my carrier so I wouldn't have to live with the smell. I just don't know what is wrong with me because usually I can hold it for my litter box and it just comes with no control.

THEY finally got me to the beach and SHE had to clean me up and then feed me. I know I am supposed to eat more dry food than wet until we clear up the runs, so I ate some dry food. Then all of a sudden I find out the torture is not over. THE OTHER ONE is holding me while SHE puts liquid on my neck. This is supposedly to kill any worms or parasites. That wasn't so bad and I started to relax a little when SHE comes at me with a syringe. Then she's squirting something down the back of my throat. While I am jumping around and foaming at the mouth and vomiting from the vile taste SHE is trying to soothe me by saying it will make me feel better. DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT'S MAKING ME FEEL BETTER????????? I am foaming at the mouth! All in all this has not been a good weekend. I got more of the vile medicine this morning after eating and did some more hopping around and foaming but no vomiting this time. Maybe it will get easier each time? I think I heard something about twice a day for 8 days.

Oh I almost forgot, while at the vet there was a brief respite in the poking and prodding and I do believe I may have heard the vet tell THEM that I was P-E-R-F-E-C-T!

I am feeling a little better this morning. We do not know what my stool is like yet since I haven't gone yet.

These are my I am pathetic and sick pictures.

Day 56 - 7/19/08

Weight: 2 lb 9 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: About 1/2 can of Kitten Wet Food each feeding. They have added dry food to my wet food. Not bad, but it's not ice cream either.

I am going on an adventure today. I am still runny and SHE got all panicky this morning when she saw two tiny drops of blood in my stool. So now I have an appointment wit the vet (whatever that is) at 4PM this afternoon. Andrew tells me not to worry that the people at the Vet love him and it's not bad at all. He should know because he tells me he spent almost all last summer going back and forth to the vet with a urinary tract infection. The only thing that worries me is that when Andrew tells me the Vet is fun, George and Gretel look at him like he is some kind of freak.

SHE thinks this picture is appropriate to this post, I just think it's embarassing that I can't even go to the bathroom without them taking pictures.

Day 54 - 7/17/08

Weight: 2 lb 7 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: About 1/2 can of Kitten Wet Food each feeding.

SHE made me a new toy this weekend. SHE says the toys she makes me are to sell in her Etsy shop. I'm not sure what an Etsy Shop is but I love my toys and she can't have them back, even if someone does buy one. SHE tells me not to worry that I get the prototype (whatever that is) and that people who buy them get newly made animals. I like this idea because I love to help her knit, I'm not sure how much SHE or THE OTHER ONE like me helping, but I'm very good at it.

SHE and THE OTHER ONE are becoming very stingy with the ice cream. They say I am very runny because I ate so much ice cream. I'm sure it's not the ice cream, maybe it's the butter I tried or better yet it's the wet food they feed me. It can't be the ice cream can it?

Day 53 - 7/16/08

Weight: 2 lb 7 oz

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

Did I mention I love ice cream????

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Day 52 - 7/15/08

Weight: 2 lb 6 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: About 1/2 can of Kitten Wet Food each feeding.

Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days. Sunday I was too busy being BAD Dudley - did you ever have one of those days where you just want to be B-A-D? Well, since I am still small and cute I can get away with them. I started Sunday by spilling Diet Coke all over THE OTHER ONE'S work computer. You want to see people jump? Try spilling something on a computer. THE OTHER ONE shouldn't bring home the laptop from work anyway! After I did that SHE banished me to the room with the other cats, so I tormented George and Andrew for a bit. Then, Andrew and I were being buds and we sat in the window together. We made a pact that when SHE came we would have to move like the wind, because we knew SHE would find us adorable and want to take our picture. True to form, SHE came in and saw us and said "Don't Move! I'll be right back!" Yeah right, don't move! By the time SHE came back, Andrew was in one room and I was in the other. SHE called us some really nasty names after that. Totally uncalled for!

Then I pretty much spent the rest of the day crying if they put me down on the floor and then when they would pick me up I would bite them. Finally, since it was very hot I got tired and curled up on HER shoulder and went to sleep. SHE, of course, complained that I was very hot but there's a price to pay to being my human.

Yesterday, I wanted to post but SHE was very greedy with the computer. SHE had to send out all HER orders that came in over the weekend and didn't get done until 9:30PM and that is just too late for me. Plus I was too busy sleeping with THE OTHER ONE in front of the TV.

Though I am getting bigger every day, I still like HER to be within my sight at all times. I get worried when I can't see HER. SHE went somewhere without me yesterday and I couldn't find HER anywhere. I searched all over the house and SHE was gone. I finally just went to HER bed because SHE had to come back to bed at some point and would find me. When SHE got back I think SHE got kind of worried that I wasn't where SHE had left me because there was a little bit of a panic note to HER voice as SHE called my name (serves HER right). When SHE found me you could tell SHE felt sorry for me (I made sure I looked pretty pathetic sitting on that big bed all by myself). SHE said SHE had only gone to the post office and it was only a 1/2 hour but it felt longer than that. Every time SHE leaves, George, Gretel and Andrew tell me SHE's never coming back. I really don't believe them, but still they might be telling the truth...

I found out this weekend that I LIKE ice cream. Oh it is sooooooooooo good. I get little chills when I sneak it from THEIR bowls, and they laugh at me but it is so worth it.

Nowadays, I move so fast the only time she can get good pictures of me is when I am sleeping - which I don't do so much any more. Sometimes I get the feeling SHE would like me to sleep more, but I'm a busy man with places to go and older cats to torment. Today's pictures are of me (surprise, surprise) in what SHE calls my food hangover. I do not see the humor here but at least SHE amuses HERSELF. SHE calls it my food hangover because with all the running and jumping and tormenting and biting when it is time to eat, I'm HUNGRY. So I eat alot and kind of fast. Then I have about 10 minutes more of running around time before sleep just takes over - hence the whole food hangover.

Day 49 - 7/12/08

Weight: 2 lb 4 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: About 1/2 can of Kitten Wet Food each feeding.

OH MY GOD!!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT SHE DID TO ME LAST NIGHT????? SHE put me in a prison!!!!!!!! Friday nights are travelling nights when THEY take us to LBI. Up until last night I have traveled very well in an open box. But then last night...totally blind sided!!!!! THEY were putting the other three in their carriers/prisons for the travel and before I know it I am locked up in my own prison. What the hell people????? And do you know what kind of sympathy I got from HER?????????? SHE just kept saying to me "You wanted to be like one of the big boys!" Blah, Blah, Blah...whatever. I can be like the big boys and still not be imprisoned. Do you think I can call Cat DYFS on HER? I was so upset that by the time we got there I could only eat about 1/2 my food, so of course this morning I was S-T-A-R-V-I-N-G.

Speaking of being one of the big boys, here is a picture of me hanging with the boys.

Day 48 - 7/11/08

Weight: 2 lb 4 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: About 1/2 can of Kitten Wet Food each feeding. I have become what SHE calls a bit of a porker. I alert her when it is time to eat by sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor and screaming my little head off. When she finally acknowledges my starvation, I climb her leg which is getting very scratched by my razor sharp claws. You would think she would learn and wear long pants. Not my problem it's 90 degrees.

I like to watch TV.

Day 47 - 7/10/08 - 8 WEEKS OLD TODAY

Weight: 2 lb 3.6 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: Well SHE caught on to the whole formula thing and has taken it out of my food. Now I am only fed Iams wet kitten food with a couple teaspoons of warm water to add a little gravy to it, otherwise it is very dry.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!!! I am 8 Weeks old today and SHE seems very proud of this milestone. Not sure why but SHE keeps telling me "8 weeks is when you leave your mother". Don't think SHE means I'm leaving HER or anything because I know for a fact SHE and THE OTHER ONE like me a lot. It gets a little embarassing sometimes actually! And it's not like I am leaving on my own, I hit the MOTHERLOAD here. They wait on me hand and foot and the food keeps coming so you'll lose a limb if you try to get me out of here. Oh and the humans aren't so bad, they did save me after all.

I think I might have mentioned yesterday, how much I like stairs. Now you can see me playing with my good friend Andrew. Some of the pictures are a little blurry because the photographer couldn't keep her hand steady. I think she drinks! Just kidding! They are blurry because, yes, I do move that fast!

Day 46 - 7/9/08

Weight: 2 lb 3.6 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: KMR 2nd Step mixed with water mixed with a spoonful of wet kitten food. SHE thinks I don't notice that there is hardly any of my formula being mixed in with the wet food. What SHE doesn't know is that I really like the wet food and will be fine when there is no more formula.

STAIRS ARE THE GREATEST THINGS EVER!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why SHE kept me from them for so long! I love going up and down them and I am very good at it. Sometimes I just go up them so I can come back down again. This morning I showed HER and THE OTHER ONE just how good I was by running up and down them several times. Maybe after I'm done posting this blog I will run up and down them again, just because I CAN!

I have learned a new trick to get what I want. I can climb HER legs. SHE seems to enjoy it because when I do it I get more of those happy sounds in a very high pitched voice "OW! OW! OW!". I don't know why SHE has to be so shrill about her happiness, especially first thing in the morning!

Speaking of first thing in the morning, this is my favorite sleeping pose.

Off to run the stairs!

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Day 45 - 7/8/08

Weight: 2 lb 2.1 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: KMR 2nd Step mixed with water mixed with a spoonful of wet kitten food. SHE thinks I don't notice that there is hardly any of my formula being mixed in with the wet food. What SHE doesn't know is that I really like the wet food and will be fine when there is no more formula.

My new favorite game is biting - feet, hands, arms, faces, I'm not picky. The best part is when the humans make squealling sounds of delight. It seems their favorite happy sound is "Ow! Ow! Ow!". They really squeal when I get a wild streak and go at their face. I love that I make them so happy. Part of the game is they try to distract me with my toys but I know they really want me to continue biting them, so I don't allow the distractions. You know what is the best? When I decide to play with HER early in the morning, when it is still dark and SHE is asleep. I really get happy sounds then. Though, sometimes they use words I am not familiar with like No! and Stop! I asked Andrew what they meant and he said he wasn't sure but he thought they were words of encouragement and meant for us to keep doing what we are doing.

SHE loves me so much she made me a toy this weekend. SHE worked so hard on it, I figured I should please her and play with it, even though we were at the place where I can't go on the floor because the STUPID dogs are there. Man, those creatures are D-U-M-B. One of them is blind and doesn't even know I'm there half the time. I have to let him know by saying nasty things to him. Then he tries to get on the table to get me and the humans yell at him. Ha! Ha! Anyway, this weekend SHE managed to take one good picture of me with my new elephant. I was playing shy and any time SHE got the camera, I stopped playing. SHE says it is such a "cute" picture. PLEASE! I'm a boy and I am not cute. What I am doing here is showing my athletic prowess and practising elephant tossing for when they make it an Olympic Sport. Sometimes, SHE just doesn't get it but she feeds me so I put up with HER.

Monday, July 7, 2008

Day 44 - 7/7/08

Weight: 2 lb 2.1 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: KMR 2nd Step mixed with water mixed with a spoonful of wet kitten food. Slowly mixing more and more of the wet food in to wean off the formula.

Dudley here...Now that I am almost 8 weeks old, I have decided to author my own blog. It was getting a little ridiculous, I mean SHE hasn't posted about me in 4 whole days. How am I supposed to keep my Blogoshere star status if she keeps using excuses like vacation and work to avoid blogging about ME.

I have a new friend in Andrew Eugene - SHE calls us her black and white bookends. Now that I am looking like a cat, Andrew (SHE calls him Huge Eug but that is not dignified so I call him Andrew) has decided I might be OK. We like to play. Our favorite game is when I bite his legs and then he chases me. SHE says Andrew may not like it as much as I think, but SHE is wrong. Just look at how Andrew protects me while I sleep.

Here SHE is yelling at me to not touch Andrew while he sleeps and I am trying to communicate to her that I am just looking at him. SHE's kind of dense sometimes because she kept yelling at me. I may have to take over the picture taking too. SHE focused the camera on Andrew so I am fuzzy - the nerve!

When I sat down to show her that I wasn't bothering Andrew, at least she focused properly.

Well that didn't take any time at all, I don't know what she complains about not having time to write my posts. I will just have to do it myself from now on.

Day 40 - 7/3/08

Weight: 1 lb 14.7 oz

Feedings: Every 6 hours

Food: KMR 2nd Step mixed with water mixed with a spoonful of wet kitten food.

Today's picture, though fuzzy, is so sweet; more for the story behind it. Usually, Dudley sleeps in his chair burrowed in his comforter. This morning I was working at my desk and I looked down on the floor curled up between my feet, very much asleep, was Dudley. He didn't want to be too far away from me, I guess the 5 feet to the chair was too far. Each time I moved my feet he would get up and move with them so that he and I were touching at all times.
